Our Story
Platform94 (formerly known as GTC) is the largest and longest established enterprise support facility for the technology sector in the west and one of Ireland’s most successful incubation and scaling hubs. It provides a fully immersive support environment for client companies and entrepreneurs from private office suites and co-working spaces to shared networking and meeting facilities, dedicated business supports and mentoring.
When it was established in 1994 under the Digital Task Force for the creation of new enterprises and employment in the technology sector, GTC was one of the first such facilities in Ireland. The centre opened initially with 7 companies employing 26 people and continued to grow and service a continually expanding IT sector during the 1990s.
One of Ireland’s largest enterprise hubs, since its inception, Platform94 has supported 300+ companies, 3000+ jobs and €1.3 billion GVA to the west region.
GTC is jointly owned by Galway Chamber and WestBIC and its overriding purpose and mission is to support regional job creation in the technology and knowledge based sectors – “with the purpose of encouraging and supporting the development of an indigenous technology-based industry in the region”.
